New Vehicles Now Registered at Showrooms

The Telangana government has introduced a new system to make vehicle registration easier and faster for buyers. Under this change, people buying new vehicles will no longer need to visit Regional Transport Authority (RTA) offices for registration. Instead, vehicles can be registered directly at authorised dealership showrooms.

Once the registration process is completed, the Registration Certificate (RC) will be sent to the vehicle owner’s home through speed post. This move is meant to reduce paperwork, save time, and avoid long queues at RTA offices.

According to an official memo issued on Thursday, January 8, the new system applies to fully built non-transport vehicles such as cars and motorcycles purchased from authorised dealers. It follows Rule 48-B of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, and is expected to be implemented within the next two weeks.

Officials explained that this step expands on existing practices where documents like driving licences are already delivered by post. For the first time, the same convenient system will now be used for vehicle Registration Certificates.

The government has also clarified that there will be no change in vehicle taxes or registration fees. Buyers will not have to pay any extra charges under the new process. The initiative is expected to make vehicle ownership simpler and more citizen-friendly.
