The New York Giants have traded offensive lineman Daniel Faalele to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a late-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Faalele signed with the Giants in the spring to reunite with head coach John Harbaugh but struggled to secure regular playing time during training camp. He appeared in only 13 offensive snaps and two special teams snaps during the preseason.
The trade frees up $187,000 in salary-cap space for the Giants and creates a roster spot. This could help the team retain veterans like Evan Neal or Josh Ezeudu. Jacksonville, which has faced multiple injuries along their offensive line, sees Faalele’s size and experience as a quick way to add depth.
The move is similar to a previous August 2024 trade where the Giants sent Jordan Phillips to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for draft capital. Both deals turned fringe roster players into future draft assets without long-term costs.
For the Giants, the trade removes a player who didn’t make progress on the depth chart and opens opportunities for younger or returning players. For the Jaguars, it provides an experienced lineman as they prepare for the regular season with injuries piling up along their offensive line.
