NTK Leads Early Push for 2026 Elections

While other major political parties are still trying to form alliances or dealing
with internal problems, Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) has moved ahead by announcing
candidates for nearly 100 seats for the 2026 assembly election.

NTK has also started its campaign in each constituency. “We have already held fou
public meetings and gone door to door. DMK and AIADMK will spend a lot of money
during the elections, but our strength is the people. That’s why we started
early,” said party spokesperson Idumbavanam Karthik.

Even though NTK leader Seeman will face tougher competition this time, the party’s
8.3% vote share in the 2024 Lok Sabha election and its recent recognition by the
Election Commission have boosted the party’s confidence. As in past elections,
NTK has decided to contest alone without joining any alliance. Earlier, Seeman
mainly criticized DMK, AIADMK, and BJP, but now he is also strongly speaking
against TVK chief Vijay as the state heads toward a four-way contest.

“Our candidates have started door-to-door visits. We are also giving saplings to
voters to share a positive message beyond just elections,” NTK spokesperson
S. Packiarajan told TOI.
