AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam (OPS) is thinking about joining the DMK for
the 2026 assembly elections. Sources told TOI that his associates have suggested
this if efforts to reunite with the AIADMK fail before the Dec 15 deadline set by
him.
Several leaders from OPS’s ‘AIADMK Cadres Rights Retrieval Committee’ prefer an
alliance with the DMK. Some even shared their views in writing at a meeting in
Chennai last week. They believe OPS, who has been chief minister three times,
should not join Vijay’s TVK because it is “new and untested in politics and
elections.”
A Subburathinam, a former MLA and OPS associate, said, “There is nothing wrong in
joining DMK. They follow the principles of Periyar and Anna, our political
ideologues. OPS will not remain inactive in a way that harms Dravidian ideology.”
