India’s Test vice-captain Rishabh Pant has said sorry for the team’s bad performance in the 0-2 series loss to South Africa. He said the team will
“regroup, refocus and reset” to make a stronger comeback.
India lost the series 0-2, with the second Test in Guwahati ending on Tuesday.
Pant captained the team in that match because regular captain Shubman Gill had a
neck injury.
India lost by a huge margin of 408 runs, which hurt their strong home record and
made their path to the World Test Championship final harder.
Pant admitted on X that the team did not play well in the last two weeks. He said
the players always try their best to make Indians proud, and he is also being
criticised for his own careless shots.
He said, “Sorry we couldn’t meet expectations this time. But sport teaches you to
learn and grow. We know what this team can do, and we will work hard, regroup,
refocus and reset to come back stronger.”
