Political parties in Tamil Nadu are in favour of reserving a percentage of jobs in the organised private sector for the residents of the state.
The state already has 69 per cent reservation in government jobs and educational institutions, including 26.5 per cent for Backward category, 3.5 for Backward caste Muslims, 20 per cent for Most Backward Castes and 15 per cent Scheduled Castes.
The extent of quota in the state is more than the 50 per cent cap prescribed by the Supreme Court.
