Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], March 26 (ANI): Pat Cummins, the main captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, has shared positive news about his recovery from a back injury ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
The Australian fast bowler recently posted on Instagram with a photo of himself wearing the Sunrisers Hyderabad jersey and wrote, “Good to be back.” Earlier in the week, Cummins mentioned during a podcast that he has restarted bowling in practice sessions as part of his recovery plan. He explained that he is slowly increasing his workload under careful supervision.
Cummins acknowledged that he will miss the start of the IPL but remains hopeful about returning later in the tournament. “I won’t be there at the beginning, but I hope to come back soon,” he said. He added that he is currently bowling every third day to avoid overexertion and ensure a safe return to competitive cricket.
Due to his injury, Cummins played only one Test match against England last year and also missed the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. In his absence, Sunrisers Hyderabad has named Ishan Kishan as the temporary captain for the 2026 season.
The team’s squad includes players like Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, Ravichandran Smaran, and others, with Cummins expected to join them later in the tournament if his recovery continues on track.
