Pensioners in Andhra Pradesh to Receive Doorstep Payments

From May 1 to May 5, the Andhra Pradesh government will facilitate doorstep payment of pensions to various vulnerable groups, including the differently-abled, those suffering from serious ailments, the elderly widows of war veterans, and bedridden individuals. This initiative aims to assist 25.30% of the total pensioners in the state, accounting for 16,57,361 beneficiaries.

For the remaining 74.70% of pensioners, whose Aadhaar numbers are linked to their bank accounts, payments will be made through Direct Benefit Transfer using the Aadhaar-enabled Payment System on May 1. Principal Secretary (Panchayat Raj & Rural Development) Sasi Bhushan Kumar confirmed these arrangements, emphasizing the Election Commission of India’s directive to ensure timely and hassle-free distribution of benefits during the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct for elections.
