On the 52nd memorial day of Periyar, PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss paid tribute to the leader of the Dravidian movement. He expressed hope that Periyar, who fought for social justice and equality, would inspire the DMK government to follow his principles.
Anbumani said, “Periyar is the ideological guide of the PMK and a beacon of social justice. His ideas continue to guide our party and our actions.”
He recalled that on September 17, Periyar’s birth anniversary, Dr. S. Ramadoss launched a week-long road blockade agitation demanding separate reservation for the Vanniyars. The protest aimed to highlight social inequality and ensure that the community receives the justice and representation they deserve.
Anbumani emphasized that the PMK continues to follow Periyar’s vision of equality and fairness in society, and urged political leaders to pay attention to social justice issues that affect communities like the Vanniyars.
He also called on citizens to remember Periyar’s contributions to the Dravidian movement and to support initiatives that fight discrimination and promote equality.
