PMK Rift Deepens as Anbumani Expels G.K. Mani

The internal conflict within the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) between party founder S. Ramadoss and his estranged son Anbumani Ramadoss took a sharper turn on Friday (December 26, 2025). The rift deepened after Anbumani announced the expulsion of senior leader and Pennagaram MLA G.K. Mani from the party.

G.K. Mani is considered a close aide and long-time loyalist of S. Ramadoss. He was earlier appointed as the honorary president of the party, a position that reflected his seniority and influence within PMK. Before this, Mr. Mani had served as the party president for nearly 25 years, from 1998, making him one of the most experienced leaders in the party.

The decision to expel Mr. Mani has highlighted the growing power struggle within PMK and exposed deep divisions in its leadership. Party observers say the move is likely to further intensify the ongoing feud between father and son, creating uncertainty about the party’s future direction.

The latest development has also caused unease among party cadres, many of whom view Mr. Mani as a key figure who helped build and sustain the party over decades. Political analysts believe that continued infighting could weaken PMK’s position ahead of future elections unless the leadership dispute is resolved.
