Tamil Nadu has witnessed a historic three-cornered election battle, resulting in a major political shift in the state. Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) secured 34.92% of the total votes and won 108 Assembly seats in its very first election.
With this victory, TVK has become the single largest party in Tamil Nadu without the involvement of either the DMK or AIADMK for the first time since 1967.
However, since the party did not secure a full majority, the state is now facing a hung Assembly situation. So far, only the Congress party has officially announced support for TVK to form the government.
Amid this political uncertainty, actor Prakash Raj strongly criticized the Governor for delaying the invitation to Vijay to form the government.
Prakash Raj said that not inviting Vijay despite TVK emerging as the largest party goes against constitutional principles and democratic values.
The election has also created history because Vijay broke the long-standing record set by former Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran (MGR).
In his first election, MGR’s AIADMK had secured 33.52% of votes. Vijay has now surpassed that record by receiving 34.92% vote share in TVK’s debut election.
Political observers say this election marks a major turning point in Tamil Nadu politics, with a new political force emerging strongly against the state’s traditional Dravidian parties.
As alliance discussions and government formation talks continue, the political atmosphere in Tamil Nadu remains tense and uncertain.
