Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Friday (November 21, 2025) that the
writings of Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, are more than just
historical documents. He said Nehru’s words show how India’s thinking and values
have changed over time. According to him, anyone who wants to understand India’s
democratic journey can still learn a lot from Nehru’s ideas.
Rahul Gandhi made these comments as the digitisation of the ‘Selected Works of
Jawaharlal Nehru’ was completed. This project has made Nehru’s important writings
available in digital form so that more people—especially students, researchers,
and the younger generation—can easily read them.
He added that Nehru’s thoughts continue to offer guidance on issues
like democracy, freedom, and nation-building. Gandhi said preserving and
sharing these writings is important because they help people understand how
India developed after independence and how Nehru shaped the country’s future.
