Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary M.A. Baby has said that Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi could become the Prime Minister if the opposition alliance wins the upcoming election.
However, Baby made it clear that the opposition parties should not decide their Prime Ministerial candidate before the election results are announced. According to him, the question of who will lead the government should be discussed only after the opposition secures a victory.
Leadership Decision Should Come After Election
Baby stressed that the main focus should be on winning the election rather than discussing the future Prime Minister in advance. He said that the opposition alliance should first work together to challenge the ruling side and wait for the people’s verdict.
