A week after the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort that killed 13 people, a new
video of the bomber, Dr. Umar Mohammad (also known as Umar-un-Nabi),
has surfaced. This self-recorded video gives the first clear look into
what he was thinking before the attack. In the video, he talks about suicide
bombing and what he calls “martyrdom.”
He says that people misunderstand suicide bombing and claims it should be
seen as a “martyrdom operation” in Islam. He mentions that some people disagree
with this idea, but he believes that such an operation is when a person
expects they will die at a certain place and time.
Umar also says that no one truly knows when or where they will die, and
that death will happen if it is meant to happen. He ends by saying, “Don’t
fear death.”
