Restaurant Workers in Chennai Given Leave for Voting

Ahead of the state elections in Tamil Nadu, restaurant workers in Chennai will receive a day’s leave to cast their votes. The Chennai Hotels’ Association plans to operate eateries with a limited menu and reduced staff post-noon to accommodate those involved in election duties and the general public.

With approximately seven lakh workers in over 7,000 restaurants across the city, the move aims to ensure voter participation among employees, especially those hailing from other states. This initiative underscores the importance of facilitating civic engagement and upholding democratic principles within the hospitality industry.
