Authorities in Tamil Nadu have seized a large quantity of hashish oil and hydroponic ganja in separate operations in Tuticorin and Chennai. The seizures are part of an investigation into suspected international drug trafficking networks.
Hashish oil valued at around ₹17 crore was reportedly found concealed inside shipments. Officials also recovered hydroponic ganja, a form of cannabis cultivated under controlled conditions and known for its high potency.
Investigators suspect that the seized drugs were intended to be transported to the Maldives and other overseas destinations. The discovery has prompted authorities to examine the wider network involved in bringing the substances into Tamil Nadu and moving them through different routes.
Officials are investigating how the drugs entered the state, how they were transported through ports and other channels, and who was responsible for arranging their onward movement.
The cases have also raised questions about possible links between local operators and international drug supply chains. Investigators are continuing to gather information and identify others who may be connected to the network.
