Russian forces attacked industrial areas in southeastern and central Ukraine overnight, killing three people, according to Ukrainian officials. The attacks also caused power outages affecting thousands in the country’s north.
In the southeastern Dnipropetrovsk region, Russia targeted cities including Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Pavlohrad. Regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha reported that missiles, drones, and artillery were used in four districts of the area. The strikes damaged business and warehouse premises in Dnipro, killing three and injuring six.
The war in Ukraine has seen both sides targeting economic and infrastructure sites as fighting on the frontline remains largely unchanged after over four years. Russia’s recent attacks included Oniks anti-ship missiles, ballistic missiles, and 212 drones, according to Ukraine’s air force.
In Pavlohrad, home to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, businesses were also damaged. A separate Russian attack on a power facility left nearly 100,000 people without electricity in the northern Chernihiv region.
Additionally, Russia carried out a “massive” strike on Poltava’s central region, hitting an industrial enterprise and a critical infrastructure site, according to Governor Vitalii Diakivnych.
