Sanchar Lekha Diwas Marks 51st Foundation Day

The Indian Posts and Telecommunications Accounts and Finance Service celebrated
its 51st Foundation Day as Sanchar Lekha Diwas in New Delhi today. The event
marked more than five decades of service in supporting the financial management
of India’s postal and telecommunications sectors.

Speaking at the function, the Controller General of Communication Accounts,
Ms. Vandana Gupta, said that the service has played an important role as the
financial backbone of both the Department of Telecommunications and the Department
of Posts. She said that over the past 50 years, the service has helped ensure transparency,
accountability, and financial discipline in these critical public services.

To mark the occasion, a Communication Finance Summit was also organised.
The summit was planned as a high-level platform to bring together officials
from the Department of Telecommunications and the Department of Posts. The aim was
to promote better coordination, share ideas, and discuss ways to strengthen
financial systems in the fast-changing communication sector.

The event was attended by senior officials from the Controller General of Accounts
(CGA), the Railway Board, and several other departments of the Government of India.
The gathering highlighted the growing importance of strong financial management in
supporting digital growth, connectivity, and efficient public services across the country.
