Sangakkara Joins SLC Transformation Panel

In Colombo, Sri Lanka, former cricket star Kumar Sangakkara has been appointed to a new nine-member committee that will help manage and reform Sri Lanka Cricket.
This decision comes after recent government action to change the leadership of Sri Lanka Cricket. As part of these changes, the previous top officials, including SLC President Shammi Silva, stepped down from their roles.
The new panel has been created to improve how cricket is run in the country. It includes well-known former cricketers such as Sangakkara, Roshan Mahanama, and Sidath Wettimuny, along with experts from business, law, and politics.
The committee is led by Eran Wickramaratne, a former Member of Parliament with experience in both politics and the corporate sector.
Wickramaratne explained that the panel has two main goals. First, to improve the management and governance of Sri Lanka Cricket. Second, to help the national teams perform better by giving them stronger support, better facilities, and improved systems.
The transformation committee includes members from different fields:

Politics and business experts

Former cricket players

Legal professionals

Corporate leaders

Members such as Prakash Schaffter, Avanthi Colombage, Thushira Radella, Upul Kumarapperuma, and Dinal Phillips will also contribute to the reform process.
Overall, the goal of this committee is to rebuild Sri Lankan cricket by making it more professional, transparent, and successful on the international stage.
