New Delhi, India – April 14 (ANI): Sanju Samson, India’s star wicketkeeper-batter, has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March 2026. His outstanding performances played a key role in India’s victory at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Samson was not initially part of the regular playing team but made a significant impact during the Super 8 phase. He started with a modest score of 24 against Zimbabwe but quickly found his form. His unbeaten 97 against the West Indies helped India reach the semi-finals. In the semi-final against England, he scored an impressive 89 runs at Wankhede Stadium, contributing to India’s strong total.
In the final, Samson delivered another crucial innings with 89 runs, aiding India in defending their T20 World Cup title. Across three important matches in March, he accumulated 275 runs at an average of 137.50 and a strike rate close to 200, showcasing his exceptional skill in the shortest format.
Reflecting on his achievement, Samson shared, “It’s an incredible honor to win this award during such a memorable period of my cricket career. Being part of India’s World Cup victory was a lifelong dream, and it took time for me to fully grasp its significance.”
He also acknowledged the talent in Indian cricket and expressed gratitude for the opportunities and support from his team and coaching staff.
