TVK chief coordinator KA Sengottaiyan said on Friday that after J Jayalalithaa’s
death, he had asked AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) to take
the chief minister’s post, even though it was offered to him.
“I had suggested EPS for the posts of general secretary and chief minister.
I asked him to accept the opportunity that came to me,” Sengottaiyan said
during his first public speech at his native Gobichettipalayam. He added that
while he had won nine times as an MLA, EPS had never won as a chief ministerial
candidate.
Sengottaiyan also said more former ministers are expected to join TVK soon.
“By December, a strong alliance will be formed,” he said, supporting speculation
that AMMK might join hands with TVK. He added, “Vijay will come to power for sure.
I will work to make him the chief minister.”
