Amid ongoing discussions about possible leadership changes within the Indian National Congress in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar said on Tuesday that he is exercising “utmost patience” and has no intention of creating any “revolution” over the Chief Minister’s post.
Shivakumar, who also serves as the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), made it clear that he has never publicly demanded a change in leadership. He stressed that any discussion regarding the Chief Minister’s position is a private matter between him, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and the party’s central leadership.
In recent weeks, there has been speculation within political circles about a possible change in Karnataka’s leadership. Some party workers and leaders have openly discussed the issue, leading to increased media attention. However, Shivakumar said he remains committed to party discipline and unity.
He emphasized that his priority is the stability of the government and the welfare of the people of Karnataka. According to him, internal discussions, if any, will be handled by the party high command at the appropriate time.
Political observers believe Shivakumar’s statement is aimed at calming party workers and preventing unnecessary tension within the state unit. By publicly stating that he will not push for any sudden move, he has attempted to send a message of unity and patience.
For now, the Congress government in Karnataka continues under Siddaramaiah’s leadership, while any decision about the future leadership is expected to be taken by the party’s central leadership after careful consideration.
