Sri Lanka Tamils Seek India’s Continued Support

Tamil political parties in Sri Lanka have asked India to stay actively involved in ensuring that the Indo-Lanka Accord is properly implemented.

The agreement was signed in 1987 during the early years of Sri Lanka’s civil war. It was meant to address the concerns of the Tamil community by giving them equal rights and more political power.

Tamil leaders now feel that the promises made under the accord have not been fully carried out. They believe that continued support and involvement from India can help ensure that these commitments are fulfilled.

According to them, proper implementation of the accord would help improve the political situation and protect the rights of Tamils in Sri Lanka.
