Stalin Reviews Voter List Revision Issues

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin held a video conference on Sunday
with DMK district secretaries and party workers to discuss the Special
Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

During the meeting, Stalin asked party workers to make sure that no eligible
voter is left out. He praised them for their work during the SIR process and
said that 97 lakh voters, about 15% of voters in Tamil Nadu, had been removed
from the rolls. He added that 66 lakh of these were marked as voters who had
shifted their residence.

Stalin said the DMK had already warned that carrying out the SIR in a hurried
manner could lead to mistakes and the removal of genuine voters. He said the
party has filed a case in the Supreme Court on this issue.

Speaking about the efforts of party workers, Stalin said they worked actively
as Booth Level Agents (BLA), Booth Data Agents (BDA), and Booth Level
Coordinators (BLC). He alleged that workers from the AIADMK and BJP were
not active during the process, which raised doubts. He said the party must
now check whether its voters are among the 97 lakh removed from the list.

Stalin also said that more than 10% of voters were removed in 168 constituencies
and asked party workers to verify the deletions booth by booth. Giving an
example, he said that in booth number one in Gummidipundi, four voters who
had joined the party through the ‘Raniyil Tamil Nadu’ campaign were removed,
with one wrongly shown as dead. He said the reasons for removing the other three
voters should also be checked.
