Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has made it clear that there will be no power-sharing arrangement with the Congress party in Tamil Nadu, even though some Congress leaders have been demanding a share in the government. At the same time, he said the alliance between the DMK and Congress will continue for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Speaking at a private event in Chennai, Stalin said that a “share in power” system would not suit Tamil Nadu’s political structure. He added that both the DMK and Congress are aware of this understanding.
The Chief Minister said some people are trying to create confusion and differences between the two parties by raising the issue of power-sharing. However, he stressed that such attempts would not affect the alliance.
“Share in power will not suit Tamil Nadu. Both the Congress and the DMK know this. Some are trying to create a divide between us, but we are not bothered,” Stalin said.
Recently, some Congress functionaries had publicly asked for a share in the government if the alliance wins the elections. Their comments had sparked political discussions about the future of the partnership.
However, Stalin’s statement has now clarified the DMK’s position. The party will continue its electoral alliance with Congress but without offering ministerial or power-sharing arrangements.
Political observers say the DMK and Congress have worked together for several elections in Tamil Nadu, and their partnership remains important for both parties. With the Assembly elections approaching, both sides are expected to focus on strengthening the alliance and preparing their campaign.
