Strike at RTOs Across State Disrupts Services

A one-day token protest by a section of officials from the State Transport and Road Safety Commissionerate paralyzed the functioning of Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across Tamil Nadu. The protest was triggered by a proposal to remove promotions for non-technical staff, who are allotted a 20% quota to become Regional Transport Officers (RTOs).

According to D. Rajan, an office-bearer of the Tamil Nadu Pokkuvaruthu Thurai Paniyalar Ondrippu, the proposal has led to dissatisfaction among clerical staff. As a result of the strike, services such as license renewals, obtaining fitness certificates for vehicles, and issuing driving licenses were severely delayed, inconveniencing many citizens.
