Supreme Court Adjourns Duraisamy’s Case Against DMK

The Supreme Court on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, decided to postpone the hearing of an appeal filed by Saidai Duraisamy. Duraisamy has accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and the ruling DMK party of engaging in corrupt practices during the 2011 Assembly elections from the Kolathur constituency.

The Supreme Court said the hearing could not proceed because the material presented by Duraisamy was not clear or well-structured. The Bench, consisting of Justices J.K. Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi, noted that the documents and arguments did not clearly explain the allegations.

Duraisamy’s appeal claims that the DMK party used its officials and funds in ways that improperly influenced voters. He says these actions, such as offering money or gifts, could be considered “corrupt practices” under Section 123 of the Representation of the People Act.

The case will be heard again at a later date, once the necessary clarifications are made and the documents are properly organized. This delay gives both the court and the petitioner time to ensure that all details are clearly presented before the hearing continues.
