Tamil Nadu Parties Finalize Rajya Sabha Nominations

As the Rajya Sabha elections approach, political parties in Tamil Nadu are finalizing their nominations for the six seats going to polls on March 16.

The DMK plans to nominate senior party leader Constandine Ravindran and re-nominate Tiruchi N Siva to the upper house. The party is also awaiting a decision from the Congress regarding a third Rajya Sabha seat, expected by Tuesday. Meanwhile, the DMK has already allocated one seat to the DMDK.

The AIADMK is expected to re-nominate former Union Minister M. Thambidurai, while the PMK will likely re-nominate its president Anbumani Ramadoss.

Sources indicate that most major parties in Tamil Nadu are trying to finalize their candidates well ahead of the March 16 election date to ensure a smooth voting process. The Rajya Sabha polls are expected to reflect the political strength and alliances of the state’s parties.

Analysts note that these nominations also indicate the ongoing negotiations between allied parties, especially concerning Congress and DMK, as both parties try to manage seat-sharing while keeping their alliance intact.

With only a few days left, attention will now turn to Congress’s decision on the third DMK-allocated seat, which could influence the final lineup of candidates for the upper house.
