TASMAC Disc disciplines Liquor Shop Supervisors Amid Strike

A recent strike in Tamil Nadu over an additional ₹10 tax on liquor bottles under a buyback scheme has disrupted alcohol sales across the state. The protest led to the closure of several liquor outlets, affecting normal business operations.

Following the strike, TASMAC, the Tamil Nadu government-run liquor sales company, suspended 245 supervisors for closing liquor shops without proper permission.

The employees reportedly shut down the outlets as part of their protest against the new tax. However, TASMAC stated that closing the shops without official approval was against company rules.

The suspensions were taken as a disciplinary measure against the employees involved in the closures. The action highlights TASMAC’s efforts to ensure that its liquor outlets follow company policies and continue operating according to official guidelines.

The incident has brought attention to the ongoing dispute over the additional tax and the impact of employee protests on liquor sales across Tamil Nadu.
