Teen Opens Fire at School in Turkey, Wounding 16

A shocking shooting incident took place at a high school in Sanliurfa, located in southeastern Turkey, on Tuesday (April 14, 2026). A teenager opened fire inside the school, leaving at least 16 people injured. The victims include both students and teachers, creating fear and panic in the area.

According to Governor Hasan Sildak, the attacker was a 19-year-old former student of the same school. He used a shotgun to carry out the attack in the Siverek district. After the shooting, the gunman took his own life.

Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals. Doctors and medical teams worked to provide immediate treatment. Out of the injured, five people were later shifted to a larger hospital in Sanliurfa city center for advanced care.

Authorities have started an investigation to understand the reason behind the attack and how the situation developed. Security measures in schools across the region may also be reviewed following this incident.
