Telangana Farmers Rent Generators Amid Power Cuts

Farmers in Telangana are facing growing difficulties due to frequent power cuts that are affecting their agricultural activities. With an unreliable electricity supply, many farmers have been forced to rent generators to provide water to their crops and protect them during important stages of growth.

The frequent power interruptions have disrupted irrigation systems and the use of farm machinery. Farmers depend on a regular electricity supply to operate their water pumps and irrigate their fields. When the power supply is interrupted, they struggle to provide enough water to their crops, raising concerns about possible crop damage and reduced yields.

To manage the situation, several farmers are renting generators to continue irrigation work. However, this has added to their farming expenses. Renting generators and purchasing fuel require additional money, placing a heavy financial burden on farmers who are already spending on seeds, fertilisers, labour and other agricultural needs.

Farmers say they have little choice but to depend on generators because protecting their crops is their immediate priority. However, this temporary solution may not be affordable for everyone, particularly small and marginal farmers with limited financial resources.

The ongoing power shortages have also raised concerns about the future of farming in the region. Without a dependable electricity supply, farmers may find it difficult to manage their fields efficiently and maintain stable agricultural production. They are also concerned that continued interruptions could affect their income and increase their financial difficulties.

Farmers are hoping for a reliable power supply and greater support to help them manage their agricultural activities. Until the situation improves, many will continue to depend on rented generators to keep their crops alive and protect their expected harvest.
