VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan and leaders from Left parties strongly criticized Tamil Nadu Governor R. V. Arlekar for not yet inviting TVK leader Vijay to form the government.
They accused the Governor’s delay of creating unnecessary political complications in Tamil Nadu and claimed it could be part of a broader attempt by the BJP-led Union government to influence the state’s political process.
Speaking to the media, Thirumavalavan said the Governor should immediately act according to constitutional provisions and invite Vijay, as leader of the single largest party, to form the government.
He argued that delaying the invitation is unacceptable and goes against democratic principles.
According to Thirumavalavan, if the Governor fails to follow this process, it may raise concerns that constitutional norms are being ignored for political reasons.
Left party leaders also joined the criticism, saying that the people’s mandate should be respected and that the Assembly floor is the proper place to test majority support.
They stressed that decisions about government formation should not be unnecessarily delayed when the democratic process is clear.
The criticism comes amid continuing uncertainty in Tamil Nadu after the Assembly elections produced a hung verdict, with TVK emerging as the largest party but falling short of a full majority.
TVK is currently seeking support from other parties to secure the numbers needed to form a stable government.
Political observers say the Governor’s next decision will be crucial in determining the state’s political future.
As pressure grows from multiple political leaders, the issue has become a major constitutional and political debate in Tamil Nadu.
