Three children died after they accidentally fell into a water-filled pit while playing near agricultural fields in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana. The tragic incident has shocked the entire village.
The accident happened in Mucherla Palli village in Urukonda mandal. The children had come to the village to visit their grandmother, who was not well.
Srikant Reddy, who lives in Turkayamjal in Hyderabad and originally belongs to Mucherla Palli, had returned to his native village with his family on Saturday after hearing about his mother’s illness.
On Sunday afternoon, since it was a holiday, he went to his agricultural fields along with his children. His sister’s family also joined them. While the elders were busy, the children were playing nearby. Sadly, they slipped and fell into a deep pit filled with water, possibly meant for irrigation or rainwater storage.
Before anyone could rescue them, the children drowned. Family members and villagers rushed to help, but it was too late.
Police reached the spot, registered a case, and began an investigation. The incident has left the families and the village in deep grief.
