More than 300 MBBS seats are still empty after the state finished
three rounds of counselling. This includes two seats in government
medical colleges and 58 government-quota seats in private colleges.
These seats will now be filled in the stray round.
However, students who already joined self-financing medical colleges
or private universities under the management quota — where fees are
higher — cannot move to these newly available seats. This is because
admissions done in round three are final. As a result, some students
with lower marks may now get a chance to join good government colleges
or government-quota seats in private colleges.
The state’s medical selection committee handles admissions for
government-quota seats in government medical colleges, as well
as all seats in self-financing medical colleges and private
universities. Admissions are based on NEET UG 2025 scores
and the 69% reservation rule.
