Trump Meets Crypto Leaders Amid SEC Rule Considerations

U.S. President Donald Trump is set to host cryptocurrency industry leaders at the White House on Wednesday. This comes as U.S. financial regulators work on rules for digital assets. According to Trump’s schedule, he will speak with tech leaders during the event.

Trump has reportedly earned over $1.4 billion from his family’s crypto ventures. However, his office says he doesn’t actively manage these businesses and claims his investments are handled independently.

Crypto executives and representatives from industry groups are expected to attend the meeting, along with officials like Mike Selig of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and SEC Chair Paul Atkins. Patrick Witt, a crypto advisor, is also scheduled to be there.

Since returning to office in January 2025, Trump has supported policies favorable to the crypto industry, particularly through the SEC and CFTC. However, a major crypto bill remains stuck in Congress, with little chance of passing before the end of the year.

Meanwhile, the SEC has proposed new rules that could make it easier for crypto companies to raise funds by issuing tokens. The CFTC is also set to discuss crypto regulation at an industry event on Thursday.

A recent poll found that many Americans believe Trump and his family have improperly profited from the crypto sector and that his policies are influenced by their business interests, including World Liberty Financial and the Trump meme coin. However, the White House denies any wrongdoing.
