TVK Cadres Urge Vijay to Contest Perambur

Members of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) held a meeting in Chennai on Sunday and passed a resolution asking party president Vijay to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections from the Perambur constituency.

During the meeting, TVK’s election campaign management secretary Aadhav Arjuna officially moved the resolution. He said that party cadres believe Vijay contesting from Perambur would strengthen the party’s presence in the area and energise supporters ahead of the 2026 elections.

Many cadres at the meeting expressed confidence that Vijay’s popularity and leadership would attract voters and give the party a strong start in the constituency. They said Perambur, a key constituency in Chennai, has a mix of working-class and middle-class voters and would be an important battleground in the upcoming elections.

TVK general secretary N Anand later addressed the gathering and said that the resolution would be conveyed to the party leadership. He added, “We wholeheartedly accept the resolution passed by the cadres. Their views and sentiments are important to the party.”

However, he clarified that the final decision on where Vijay will contest will be taken by the party leadership after discussions and proper planning.

The meeting also focused on strengthening booth-level committees, expanding membership, and preparing early for the 2026 Assembly elections. Party functionaries were asked to increase outreach activities and connect with people in their respective areas.

The resolution reflects the growing enthusiasm among TVK cadres as the party prepares for its electoral journey in Tamil Nadu.
