TVK Launches Local Protests to Build Support

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has asked its district units to hold protests on
local problems. The party wants people to see TVK as a group that fights for
public issues.

This move is meant to help the party connect directly with voters and strengthen
its presence at the local level. Along with protests, the party has told district
units to give petitions to officials about civic problems.

Party leaders said this plan is to counter criticism that Vijay’s party has no
strong local structure and is mostly run by the central leadership. In the past
week, TVK units have taken up issues like public health, liquor shop licences,
and infrastructure problems. On Monday, the Trichy unit complained to officials
about a traffic jam problem on the Chennai–Madurai national highway.
