In separate police encounters near Chennai, two history-sheeters were killed, and another was hospitalized. A special team of Avadi City police engaged Muthu Saravanan and Sathish from Puzhal, both involved in violent crimes. They were identified as suspects in the murders of an AIADMK functionary and a DMK functionary.
When they attempted to attack police officers, the officers had to open fire, injuring three of them. In a separate incident, Chengalpattu district police officers shot at another history-sheeter, Thanika, when he tried to escape from custody. Thanika, also known as Thanikachalam, was hospitalized and taken to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai. Investigations are ongoing in both cases.
