Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi,
asking why Hindi is being pushed in Tamil Nadu if he truly supports the Tamil
language.
Speaking at a book launch in Chennai on Thursday, Udhayanidhi said, “Modi is
pretending to care about Tamil, but at the same time he is stopping Tamil students
from learning Tamil by trying to impose Hindi and Sanskrit.”
He also questioned why the central government is making the three-language policy
compulsory for Tamil Nadu to receive pending education funds worth ₹2,500 crore.
Udhayanidhi added that while Modi claims to be a supporter of Tamil, the Centre
has given only ₹150 crore for Tamil language development in the last 10 years,
but ₹2,400 crore has been given for Sanskrit.
