UK-Resident Malayali Businessman Summoned by Kerala Police After Protest

The Kerala police have issued a summons to Shajimon George, a UK-resident Malayali businessman, who recently staged a protest alleging harassment by Manjoor Village council officials. George claimed that despite spending Rs 25 crore to set up a state-of-the-art sports complex in Kottayam, he faced “indifferent treatment” and delays in obtaining necessary permits.

The protest gained significant media attention, leading the village council to relent. However, upon returning to the UK on November 18, George received a call from local police officials, informing him of a case registered against him on November 7, the day of his protest. George expressed surprise that he was not informed earlier when he voluntarily visited the police station.

The businessman, residing in the UK for 25 years, is evaluating his next steps in response to the summons and the case against him.
