Michael Kratsios, the top science adviser to US President Donald Trump, has described India as a major technology powerhouse. He said India plays an important role in the White House’s global push to develop and expand artificial intelligence (AI).
Speaking after his recent visit to India for the India AI Impact Summit, Mr. Kratsios said India has strong engineering talent and a growing innovation ecosystem. He pointed out that India produces a very large number of engineering graduates every year. According to him, the country has deep domestic talent and is building strong technology products and applications.
Mr. Kratsios said India is a key partner in the United States’ broader strategy to promote what he called “AI sovereignty” among friendly nations. This means helping partner countries develop their own AI capabilities while working closely with the US.
He also said India has long been an important partner in technology cooperation with the United States. Many major American technology companies, including large cloud service providers, have data centres and research facilities in India. These operations help strengthen collaboration and deepen integration within the American AI system.
He added that the growing partnership between India and the US in AI and advanced technology will support innovation, economic growth, and global competitiveness for both countries.
