US Ambassador Praises SHANTI Bill for India’s Energy Policy

The United States Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, recently met with US Secretary of State Wright and India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. The meeting was productive, focusing on how the US and India can work together on energy in the future. This discussion came after India passed the SHANTI Bill, which is designed to improve the country’s nuclear energy policies.

Ambassador Gor called the SHANTI Bill a big step forward for India’s energy policy. He said the US wants to help India not only with nuclear energy but also with other areas like coal gasification and exporting liquefied petroleum gas. The goal is to make energy cleaner and safer.

The SHANTI Bill aims to modernize India’s nuclear energy systems, improve safety standards, and create opportunities for international partnerships. Nuclear cooperation has been a key part of US-India relations since the 2008 nuclear agreement. Both countries are committed to working together on clean and secure energy solutions.
