Vegetable Prices Fall at Koyambedu as Supply Improves

Wholesale prices of various vegetables have started to decline at the Koyambedu Wholesale Market Complex in Chennai, thanks to increased supplies from neighboring states. Tomatoes, which had surged to over ₹200 per kg in retail stores, are now being sold for ₹20-₹25 per kg due to abundant supplies from Karnataka.

Other vegetables like okra, cucumber, snake gourd, and bottle gourd are also available for ₹25 or less per kg, with a surplus supply from regions like Hosur and Krishnagiri. However, political tensions in Andhra Pradesh have led to higher prices for vegetables like broad beans and brinjal. While this drop in vegetable prices is a relief for consumers, some items like ginger, coriander, and green peas remain expensive.
