Velumani Signals Talks with AIADMK Leadership

Chennai: Amid growing internal tensions within the AIADMK, party legislator S. P. Velumani has indicated that the dissident group is still open to discussions with party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

In a post shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Velumani said that the rebel leaders are willing to talk and find a common solution for the future of the party. He directly addressed Palaniswami and urged him to consider holding discussions with the opposing faction.

Velumani said that if the party leadership calls for a meeting, the dissident leaders are ready to participate. He suggested that all leaders should come together to discuss the reasons behind the party’s recent electoral defeat and learn from it.

He also stressed the need for unity within the party and said that the future direction of AIADMK should be decided collectively rather than by one group alone. According to him, open discussions could help resolve differences and rebuild the party’s strength.

His statement comes at a time when internal differences within AIADMK have become more visible, with some senior leaders questioning the current leadership. However, Velumani’s message is seen as a softer tone compared to earlier criticism from the rebel camp.

Party observers believe that his remarks may open the door for possible reconciliation talks between the two sides. Whether the leadership responds to this offer remains to be seen in the coming days.
