Victor Wembanyama’s Big Night: 5 Key Facts

Victor Wembanyama had an incredible game on Wednesday night, scoring a career-high 52 points, grabbing 24 rebounds, and blocking eight shots. This helped the San Antonio Spurs beat the Dallas Mavericks 112-111 in San Antonio. The win brought their record to 6-2 and extended their winning streak to six games.

Wembanyama’s impressive performance came despite a virus and an ankle injury. He dominated the first half, scoring 29 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, and blocking five shots. This made him the first player since 1997 to reach 25 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks in a single half, along with five dunks and two steals.

In the game, he shot 16 out of 28 from the field, including seven dunks, but only made one of eight three-pointers. He also converted 19 out of 23 free throws. His final free throw with 24 seconds left gave the Spurs a one-point lead, and Irving’s missed shot sealed the win.

Wembanyama’s 50 points, 20 rebounds, and five blocks in a game were a rare achievement, matching a record set by Bob McAdoo in 1974. Despite not feeling at full strength, Wembanyama showed his ability to impact the game at both ends of the court.

After the game, he said he could still perform better if his shots were falling but was happy with the result. This performance added to the Spurs’ strong start to the season.
