Virat Kohli Fastest to 28,000 International Runs

India’s batting star Virat Kohli on Sunday, January 11, 2026, became the fastest player to score 28,000 runs in international cricket. He also became the second-highest run-scorer in history, behind Sachin Tendulkar, during the first ODI against New Zealand.

Kohli achieved this milestone in his 624th innings by hitting a four off New Zealand leg-spinner Adithya Ashok.

For comparison, Sachin Tendulkar reached 28,000 runs in 644 innings, and Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara, the only other player in this club, did it in 666 innings.

This achievement adds another record to Kohli’s illustrious career, highlighting his consistency and dominance in world cricket.
