VSSC Report Backs Sabarimala Temple Concerns

The Kerala High Court has said that its earlier concerns about possible changes to certain temple structures at the Sabarimala temple appear to be supported by a scientific report from the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC).

After reviewing the VSSC report, the court observed that the chemical analysis seems to strengthen doubts that the gold-coated copper plates of the Dwarapalaka idols and the door frames of the Sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum) may have been replaced.

However, the High Court also noted that the report is very technical and cannot be fully understood without expert explanation. The court said that detailed statements will need to be taken from scientists and technical experts from VSSC and other expert agencies.

These experts will be required to scientifically explain, interpret, and link the findings of the report with the physical evidence collected during the investigation, the court added.
