The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday allotted the ‘whistle’ as the election symbol to actor-politician Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
TVK, which is contesting for the first time, had approached the ECI on November 11, 2025, requesting an election symbol under the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968.
The party submitted a list of ten symbols for consideration – seven from the list of free symbols provided by the ECI and three new symbols created by the party itself.
The allotment of the ‘whistle’ symbol now allows TVK to contest elections officially under this symbol.
