Simran Bala, a 26-year-old Assistant Commandant of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) from Jammu and Kashmir, will lead an all-male contingent during the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path in Delhi on January 26, officials said.
This is a proud and historic moment for the force, as it is the first time a woman officer will command a group of more than 140 male CRPF personnel at the national parade.
In the past, women officers have led CRPF contingents during Republic Day events. However, this is the first time that a woman officer will lead an entirely male team.
Officials said Simran Bala has undergone rigorous training and preparations for the parade. Her leadership highlights the growing role of women in the armed forces and paramilitary services.
Her participation is expected to inspire many young women across the country to join the forces and take up leadership roles.
The Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path is one of India’s most prestigious national events, showcasing the strength and discipline of the armed forces and security personnel.
