Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a 15-year-old cricket sensation from India, showed why he’s considered one of the game’s rising stars by performing exceptionally well against legendary bowler Jasprit Bumrah in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match. Playing for the Rajasthan Royals against the Mumbai Indians, Sooryavanshi demonstrated confidence and skill as he played aggressively and effectively.
Sooryavanshi made a strong debut last year with a quick century and was named Player of the Series during India’s victory in the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year. In this IPL season, his impressive strike rate and six-hitting ability have earned him attention. During the match in Guwahati, which was shortened due to rain, Sooryavanshi faced Bumrah with remarkable composure. He hit two massive sixes off Bumrah’s deliveries and continued to dominate other bowlers, including Trent Boult, by hitting three sixes in four balls.
Despite being dismissed for 39 runs off 14 balls, Sooryavanshi’s impact was significant. His partner Yashasvi Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 77, leading Rajasthan Royals to a total of 150-3. They restricted Mumbai to 123-9, securing their third consecutive win and topping the IPL standings.
Jaiswal praised Sooryavanshi, saying his performance allowed him to focus on his own game without pressure. He highlighted how exciting it was to watch Sooryavanshi bat against Bumrah, one of cricket’s greats, and emphasized that having such a talented teammate made them unstoppable.
